Testimonials

Hi, I'm
Claire Hardie

Claire Paton Dog trainer

I am a dog trainer and behaviourist based in Falkirk, central Scotland.

I have an MSci in Veterinary Bioscience from the University of Glasgow, which has given me a detailed understanding of the physical and psychological development of our companion animals as well as a background in nutrition, husbandry, and animal welfare. I am a fully accredited member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT) (Claire Paton, membership no. 01549), registered with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC-ATI), and a member of the Pet Professionals Guild (PPG).

My background in science and research has equipped me with a passion for learning, and I am continually working to expand my knowledge and appreciation of training techniques and keep abreast of the latest advances in the field of behaviour science. I believe in ethical, force-free, reward-driven methods which empower our pets to make good choices and teach them how to live alongside us, instead of punishing them for getting things wrong.

I have two dogs of my own, both podencos rescued through Podencos In Need Scotland (PINS).

Podencos are intelligent, complicated, emotional dogs, and my boys have been instrumental in helping me reform and perfect my rewards-based training methods.

Gimli and Oliver often assist me on the job, and are great at helping to put nervous or reactive dogs at ease.

I took my reactive/ nervous dog to Claire for help and advice and within the first session, I noticed a huge difference. Cody is nervous and reactive around dogs and some people when out on walks, Claire gave me an insight on why this is happening and gave me tips and support on how to work on this with Cody. By the end of the session I could see a difference in Cody and how much he was reacting. I would highly recommend Claire, she is very supportive and takes the time to explain why behaviors are happening as well as how to help your dog feel more comfortable and confident.

Her methods have worked wonders in training my rescue dog and I have also learned so much from her help! I wouldn't hesitate to engage her services again in the future.

Follow my Lead Falkirk is the best out there. Attending classes hugely improved my dogs behaviour (Adolescent Puppy Stage), it made us as owners more aware of our dogs needs and understanding. Reward based training is the way to go encouraging a calm and firm approach with positive results. Claire demonstrates various techniques that can be used and Claire happily helps with any current issues that you are experiencing. I would highly recommend! the classes are fun and good socialisation.
